Something along the lines of the X32 (o was that x33?) seems nice tome, but then again that means we'll have a plane type craft again, a capsule might be better.

if you upload your images to imageshack it will give you the correct code for you to use, so only copy/past and your done[/img]

I also liked the idea for a winged reentry vehicle. Insted of using tiles it would have an ablative (Like on Apollo) heatsheild that could be bolted on, and then replaced for the next flight. The skin of the spacecraft would be made of composites and covered with Nomex. It would launch using a Mag-Lev (magnetic levitating, like a monorail) track , a ramjet, and miniturised SSME's. It would land on Earth or Mars using a combination of a parachute and the wings. for Lunar missions it would use the usual retrorocket system. In case of emergency the front breaks away and uses a stearable parafoil and skids for landing.

PS it is the X-33, the X-32 was boeing's JSF proposal

Has anyone considered lancing on the moon using less retro thrust by using skids? I was thinking of something like a snowplane uses to land in the arctic. It might not work for passenger craft or delicate cargo, but I was thinking of using a similar method for transit pods carrying prefabricated construction materials (I-beams, Dome sections, etc).

The Orion space transfer vehicle docked with Challenger CEV. Orion is constructed from a shuttle ET fitted with nuclear engines and solar panels. Cut away of Challenger spacecraft, sorry about the grainy images, also Orion's launch vehicle the Phoenix-2 ( I drew these during my Social Studies exam, People asked me for some of these to put in their yearbook, my sketches have become quite (in)famous at school)

There is an eerie resemblance 8-[ , originally I was going from the Orion 3 from 2001 with rail idea, I have another drawing of the rail system that I will post later and the picture with the rest of the CEV's

Gemini, get thee to an office supply store and pick up some quadrille graph paper, ruler, protractor and compass. Ya got the passion, now get the tools.

Nice links, that will keep me busy for a while on modeling ( I'm also on the SM forum). My AMT/Lindberg "America in Space Collection" is starting to look sparse. =D>

For many years I wanted Griffin for NASA Chief Admin.

I got my wish:

I wanted HLLV:

I'm getting my wish--I hope!

I wanted Delta II dead.

I'm getting that wish too!
