Default Saturn: Most Powerful Lightning In The Solar System?

Well, it certainly seems that Saturn's lightning is the most powerful in the solar system. Jupiter's lightning is 1,000 times more powerful than Earth's-this was what I was told in an email from the folks involved with Galileo. Saturn's was measured at 1 million times stronger than Earth's.

Another question is whether this lightning came from the Dragon Storm-Saturn's super-thunderstorm just south of the equator. It's more than half the size of the Earth.

It would be nice if Cassini could take pictures of Saturn's cresent so we could see the vertical structure of the Dragon Storm. And I also hope that Cassini can take pics of Saturn's night side and spot lightning flashes, like at Jupiter.

Good question. I'd like to know if Cassini will ever get close enough to the Dragon Storm to find out. :-k

There is a nice book by Stenhoff called BALL LIGHTNING from KLUWER.

There is talk about Kapitsa waves and TIPPS and there is also some concern about damage to space vehicles mentioned in the book.
