Are the implications as significant as I think they are? If we can easily and cheaply create nuclear fusion, we would have a new energy source that is much better than anything we've had before. The running out of fossil fuels would not be a problem.

Then again, we've always had access to a fusion reactor in the form of the sun and we've not really taken than much advantage of it.

Who would actually want cheap and plentiful power? Presumably not the energy companies?

Being the nervous nellie that I am about the availability of energy including its role in the production and distribution of sanitary fresh water, I am grateful for what might be a solution. Because we may have seen an inkling of how to do this, there's no guarantee that energy from cold fusion will be either cheap or plentiful. The energy companies will come to love it. At any rate they are big enough to take care of themselves.

This will not be an energy source, but it will be a neutron source. Right now neutron source are big and expensive things, but this can be made small and portable.
