The thing is that we do not know and that is why we are trying to figure it out with the use of analogies and any other useful picture that we can paint.
Why do you refuse to believe such an analogy. when mounting criticism, it is only proper to state the grounds of the refutation. I think that the analogy hold in that Dr. Hawking believes, from what I understand, in the closed universe theory (I forget the proper term). Essentially he believes that the universe is closed sphere like the earth, much like the balloon analogy. (I think?) |

Where did you read about this? Who is the author (or who are the authors) of this? And, in keeping with the intent of this thread, are you saying that the BB was created as a collision of two 'Mega loaf universes'? |

For those inclined to oppose human meddling with the structure of the universe or the composition and configuration of objects and groups of objects within the universe, consider: Whether there is a limit to the magnitude of a modulation of chaos below which order remains invariant? Or, is order but a fiction invented by perspectives applied over finite, however large, time intervals? |

If nothing existed before the big bang, and the vacuum of space it'self is infinite and the big bang to create our universe just suddenly appeared out of nowhere then surely this wouldn't be a one off occurence and is happening an infinite amount of times? Thinking this was the only big bang to appear out of nowhere is like thinking Earth is the only planet with life. While it's possible, it would seem very unlikely. Hope this makes sense.
