Thanks madman,

What you didn't point out in this image (but you have in the past) is the color coding for what is radio, IR, optical, and/or xray. The M87 jet is a pretty amazing thing, and understanding it will tell us a lot about whole classes of powerful objects in this universe. Your image presents a nice way for moderately informed people like us to visualize something about what's happening there.

sorry about that..(i forgot ).

red = vla (radio)
green = hst (optical) although it blends with red to make yellow
blue = chandra (xray)

the small green star like blobs are globular clusters...i think.

This is great news, the plasma experiments recreating these jets are confirming the importance of plasma cosmology.

Cheers.

Ummm, was there someone who was saying that plasma and magentism aren't important when looking at black holes and neutron stars?

Yes, it is generally assumed the ultimate driving force for the production of jets is gravity, while these plasma experiments run on electricity.

Cheers.

It is generally assumed that gravity provides the energy, both to drive the particles and to maintain the magnetic field in spite of energy losses to the propelled particles. No one says that gravity alone somehow creates a bipolar jet and shoots particles away from a black hole.

The model is pretty complicated, but you are misrepresenting things by saying that the current model for jets is gravity without magnetism.

Actually, I was talking about cosmology and not just jet formation, maybe I'll leave it at that, because I don't want to turn this thread into something Madman never meant it to be

Cheers.
