Yeah I thought it was fascinating.

There is as the story said a radio programme about it, on Radio 4 tonight which you can listen to on the net. If you can't listen to it tonight, and have Real Player on your PC, you'll be able to catch it all week from tomorrow morning at:

There was a great article in NG in the 80's/early 90's about the Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) launched in 1984. Look into it; they did the same things with tomato seeds, and sent them around the country for school children to grow.
