Question What Planets Am I Seeing?

I'm in Northern New Jersey, and I'm looking southwest at a crescent moon that's just above the horizon. There's a bright point of light to the upper right of it, and to the upper left of the moon, there's another point of light.

Can anyone tell me what planets I'm seeing?

There's a couple of websites attached to this board! (Am I the first to say that?) If you check out the BA's Blog, you'll see his neat pictures of Venus and Jupiter...
It does look pretty nice with the moon there, doesn't it? I dragged my wife out to see it last night.

Agreed.
One of the fellow astronomy majors a few floors above me in my dorm has been practicing his photographic skills the past few nights on the conjuntion. It's paid off, and he got onto spaceweather.com!
Link for those interested in the view from here.

I'd been seeing those 2 (Venus and Jupiter) for several nights before I saw BA's pics.

They were so clear and well explained that it was a real buzz watching them get closer and closer.

Then add the moon cruising past !!

Funny, I can see them very clearly when I leave work (6:30pm, in the city) but they get harder to spot when I get home (out in the hills) due to the rest of the universe shining happily - stupid milky way spoiling my views with all those stars everywhere

I liked the view on Saturday evening (9-3) when Spica, Venus, and Jupiter were pretty evenly spaced and formed close to a straight line.

Here you go:

That's what the southwest sky will look like just after twilight tonight. From left to right, you've got the Moon, Venus, Spica (below and just to the right of Venus), and finally, Jupiter.

The alignment to the horizon may be a little different where you are, since we're separated by almost 10 degrees of latitude.

Hope that helps.

Had a very nice view of them last night, with the sun having set and the moon & two planets hovering just above the trees. Beautiful.

Would have made a great picture, except for the Lowes in the background.
