I have seen in it naked eye many times. The best view ever was at Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico. A night of sub arc second seeing (I was at the observtory and it was hanging out around .8 arc seconds all night) and crystal clear October skies. I brought my 20x80 binoculars out. Amazing visual detail.

Hale Bop, I've got a friend from Racine, WI. He rides motorcycles. You probably wouldn't know him though.
