Default Life imitating Art? (APOD coolness)

Saw this today on APOD

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap060123.html

As was taken back by how much it resembled something i've seen before.

Intresting no?

I don't want to rain on your parade, but (I've always hated that phrase)
the art is a depiction of studies made. (in other words art from life)
So; in this case, I see a circular reference.

It is cool though that they were able to depict the ideas with enough accuracy that the real observations were able to match it reletively close.

Not all that surprising, since we've had images of star-forming regions (including those in the Large Magellanic Cloud) for a long time to guide the artist (who was trying to extrapolate what we see here and now to what we might expect to see in looking back to an early epoch of widespread and very active star formation).
