Default Your Astronomy Day

Howdy,

As many of your know, May 6 is Astronomy Day, and it's fast approaching. We're busy planning our annual Astronomy Day activities here at Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas, and we'd love to get YOUR opinion about what you'd like to see in an Astronomy Day. When you've attended these types of events before, what really stuck with you? What would you like to see more of? Do you enjoy astronomy lectures, or are planetarium shows or observing more? What could you do without?

Just to give you an idea of what we're planning in general: we're home to one of the nation's largest and most advanced digital planetarium theaters, The CyberDome Theater, so we'll be featuring some awesome shows in there - both live and "movie-style" cinematic features. In the past, we've featured make-it and take it paper plate astronomy type of activities, we're planning guest lectures, other activities led by our staff, some exhibits by local clubs and even a few NASA missions, and solar viewing during the day.

What would YOUR perfect Astronomy Day be like for you and your family?

Thanks!

Gearing activities for 3rd-5th graders with habds on experiences of telescopes, prisms, moon rocks, etc are lasting memories even for their parents as they watch their kids get excited about something wholesome for a change.
