Default Astronomical Home Repair Costs

I can imagine the conversation these folks had with their insurance agent. I wonder how much the meteorite rider costs.

I have a problem with that term 'act of good', how can that still be acceptable. Sorry I digress, but yeah I would not be happy with holes in my roof, unless there was a very nice meteorite souvenir left.

This has cropped up once or twice.

A woman in the US had her $500 Chevy Impala wrecked by a meteorite (1992, Peekskill, NYC). The insurance company did say "act of God" and never paid.

However there is good news. Meteorites are very valuable indeed. If one hits your property you become the legal owner. I believe the 12 kg meteorite is worth $50,000+ and even better, the wrecked car sold for $10,000.

Hum,
this link has some pictures of the damage...

Researchers hope to recover the meteor that may be lodged in an upstairs bedroom wall. The family has also received offers from collectors to sell the rock. They say they're not sure what they're going to do if they find it.
(Ed - sell it and repair the roof?)

Aren't "acts of god" exactly the sort of thing you want to be insured against?

Hum,
as far as the insurance companies are concerned the devils are in the small print, or as in this case, lodged in a wall.
