Default Gamma Ray Bursts

Apparently two long gamma ray bursts were recently observed without evidence of a corrosponding super nova. From what I read, that goes against what was currently thought possible...altho I don't know anything about gamma rays, gamma ray bursts, or supernovas. I searched and didn't find any reference to this on the formus so I thought those of you who are more learned in these subjects might find it interesting.

The article can be read here: Spaceflight Now

And is in reference to GRB060605 and GR060614.

GRB060614 has been discussed in a UT Story (IIRC), It may be that it was like a short GRB, except that it was a black hole eating a white dwarf, not a neutron star, and so it took longer. As for GRB060605, I have no plausible answer yet.
