Default 5th Annual Astronomy Challenge

It's time for this year's Astronomy Challenge. This is another Bricker quiz, like the first one, or the second one, or the third one, or the fourth one, with similar rules. You might want to check some of those earlier quizzes to get the flavor of the game.

I will update the current scores as often as I can, and that should provide clues as to which answers are correct. You may borrow answers from other posters, if you like their answers, just by saying that you want to use their answers. You may change any of your answers by making a new post--a post with a single answer will change only that answer. Do not change your previous post. If you answer a single question multiple times within a single post, I will only consider the last answer (the George rule). I might be induced to change my own answer, given strong enough inducement.

There are ten questions this year, numbered to 11. Sometimes, the number of the question is related to the question, or answer.

1. There was a constellation in your soup. Which one?
2. Which moon of Mars looks like a moon of Mars?
3. Name my least favorite astronomical scaley claw.
4. Name the owner of BAUT whose name appears the least number of times on the forum front page.
6. We are now between a pair of Venus transits (June 8, 2004/June 6, 2012), the next pair is (2117/2125), the last was (1874/1882). When is the next day that Venus is eclipsed by the Sun?
7. Based upon the way the names of the planets were assigned to the days of the week, what planet would be assigned to the seventh hour of the seventh day?
8. Name a constellation that contains the celestial pole
9. What was the first ninth planet?
10. Approximately, on the Earth, what is one hundredth of a grad?
11. A significant spacecraft launch has its anniversary on April 12. On what day of the month did it return to Earth?

First attempt:
1. Musca (stealing's a good thing, as it saves me time)
2. Phobos
3.
4. Fraser
5. 42
6.
7. Either the sun or Uranus
8. Which pole? (You used "the.") - Ursa Minor
9. Ceres (or Neptune, in order outward instead of discovery)
10.
11.

More later.

JeDi makes an interesting point: Fraser's or Phil's name could appear in the ephemeral What's Going On section of the BAUT front page. They could be one of the Currently Active Users, or it could be their birthday, . I am not counting those. I like Tobin Dax's answer to number five, but I can't count it either.

1. Ursa minor

2. Neither. They both look like asteroids. What is a moon of Mars supposed to look like? There's nothing about looking at a picture of Phobos or Deimos that makes me say "That thing looks like it should be orbiting Mars."

3. Draco

4. Fraser

6. Tommorow. We normally don't use the word "eclipse" for such an event, but it is not wrong to do so. As viewed from Earth, the next time Venus will be occulted by the Sun is June 8, 2008. But somewhere in the solar system Venus is being occulted by the Sun right now. Since you didn't specify from Earth, and since today doesn't count as the "next day", my answer is: tommorow

7. None. They are only assigned to the 1st hour

8. Octans for the south celestial pole, Ursa Minor for the north celestial pole

9. Pallas

10. 1 km

11. 12

It looks like this quiz may be over much too quickly--I even thought about taking off a point from George just for not being "approximate" enough

Creative answer to number six, tony873004, I may have to use that in the future.
