The impetus for this thread comes from several posts in a recent About BAUT thread, particularly by Fazor (twice), parejkoj (twice), Doodler, and Paracelsus.
For this idea to work, I think most of the following would need to be covered: * links * categorisation * short summary * threads (or posts) that are particularly helpful * ongoing maintenance. What do you think? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In any case, this thread is also a small-scale experiment - what are the threads (or posts) that you found particularly helpful or useful? post a link, and a short summary; why you found it particularly good would also be welcome. Please include only those directly related to BAUT's focus (astronomy, as a science, and space science, which includes astrophysics - some relativity is included - and cosmology), and those which seek to present mainstream explanations. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Third part: how to categorise the lists of links? how to maintain this kind of resource? |

Ken G started three threads concerning common misperceptions people have about Special Relativity. The threads are here:
http://www.bautforum.com/general-sci...tons-laws.html http://www.bautforum.com/general-sci...le-effect.html http://www.bautforum.com/general-sci...e-effects.html Each thread addressed a common misperception that people have about Relativity. I've always had a tough time with some of the concepts in Relativity and discussed in those threads, and I found Ken G's explanations to be very clear and helpful. It was also nice to be able to read what he wrote AND get additional info by asking questions that addressed some other aspect of Relativity that had not yet been explicitly addressed yet.
