Default Lunar X - Last North American Event of 2007

The fully formed Lunar "X" should be illuminated Nov 17, 2007 0207 UT (that's the evening of Nov 16th). I was hopeful that the libration similarities of this event, to my spectacular 1978 observation might make this event more apparent than recent events, but I have been told it will not. Must have been my young eyes and great seeing that night long ago, we'll see...

Good Luck, if you are up to it!

I have a new 40mm e.p. to try out for my afocal pics. Let there be clear skies...

Not going to happen for central Ohio tonight, too cloudy here all evening, and now the moon is starting to get low in the sky and is getting even dimmer. Good luck to everyone else that tries! It's happening right now!

I observed and imaged the so-called Lunar X, a transient light phenomenon, from 2:05 to 2:25 UT (9:05 to 9:25 p.m. EST) with the ASH 17" f/15 classical Cassegrain, despite the fact that the Moon was quite low in the sky and was obscured at times by patchy clouds. Images were captured both at prime focus and with eyepiece projection (32mm Brandon) using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DSLR.
