Default Fireball of '95

Did anyone else here see the fireball in 1995 that was seen from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia and southern Ontario? On Aug 25 just after 12pm EST. I saw this from the window of a high-rise, it was blue-green with a tinge of red. More spectacular than most meteors, this one actually dissappeared beyond the horizon.

I was reminded of this after reading the "Meteorites Cause Fires in Spain?" thread. The 95 fireball was rumoured to have caused a fire in a trailer home.

It was probably started as a joke by firefighters. I can only find woo-woo refererences about this fireball. Does anyone else have a story about this?

I wonder if that's the one I saw! I did not record the date, but it was around that year and I think I remember the weather being warm. I lived in Bright, Indiana, which is just west of the KY-OH-IN tristate area. It was almost directly south . . . which, I guess, means it isn't the one I saw since it should have been north by the states you said it was visible from. But it was about as bright as a half moon, and definitely had a greenish tint. Many smaller fireballs receded from it, and its descent was rather slow.

I did not personally see it, but the Cleveland Museum of Natural History has a display on meteors and has a video of it that they show. It was taken during a high school football game.

Actually it could be, it was moving southwest about parallel to Lakes Erie and Ontario. The rumour was it impacted near Detroit but obviously went much further than that.

If this is the one I'm thinking of, didn't they say it was a stage of a russian rocket reentering the atmosphere?
