Speaking of which, does anyone know of a good review of the attempts to produce astrophysical models of type Ia SNe?

Go to ADS:

http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abstract_service.html

Type into the "Abstract words" box the words

review supernova type Ia model computer simulations

Press the "Send Query" button. You'll see a list of papers which have these words in their abstracts.

Item 11 on my is a paper by Bravo, Badenes, and García-Senz from a conference on interacting binaries:

http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2005AIPC..797..453B

The abstract suggests that it might offer you the sort of review you seek.

It won't offer any evaluation, though.
