I attended the dedication of this interesting sundial a few months ago. I'm not sure how long the photo will be there, so I'm including a link directly to the image. The caption says "T.J. Weeks, 6, finds out what sky-high fun it is to hitch his playtime to the stars Tuesday as he skates through a tile mural on his Rollerblades at Hillside Park."

That doesn't do it justice. If you look closely (well, if the resolution were better), you'd see a red stripe made up of 12 squares, each one labeled with a different month of the year. It's a sundial, with you as the gnomon. For instance, if you stand straight up on the February square, in the month of February, the shadow of your head will fall upon the time. There's another band of numbers inside those (shadows are shorter) for daylight savings time, with the numbers each one greater.

The red squares represent the analemma--the effect of the north and south drift of the sun's rays, and the equation of time.

Kids can find out what time it is by interacting with the solar system.

I wish people would stop posting links and not updating them.

Yeah, seems like sort of needless complaint. You try monitoring every post you've ever made in any and every forum anywhere to make sure that someone else is maintaining their website that you linked to in the exact same manner they were years ago.
