What type of telescope setup are some of you using for higher quality astro photography?

Hi, welcome to the forum. An equatorially mounted telescope is ideal, as you can move the telescope slowly and (in theory) the stars should be exposed as points, not trailing at all

Hi Howtosee. Gavwvin is right. an equatorially mounted telescope is the only way to go, if you want to take DSI astro photos. I have a etx 125 meade that I use in polar mode only, when taking astro photos. An alt/az telescope will take good to great photos of the Moon and the brighter planets, but thats about it.

Yours in the way Paul F. Campbell
