Lunar Occultation of Antares this morning, while near last quarter phase.
This is a 2 image composite of both the dissapearance and reappearance of Antares. ~ 5:49 am to 7:15 am Clouds moved in on me just before disappearance, but cleared again and I was able to actually watch the reappearance. Antares golden orange color stood out, even in the Daylight. The Images were processed to remove the daylight and optical reflections. 10"SCT F6.3 Canon 10D DSLR, ISO 400, 1/500 and 1/60 sec. exposures. I hope you all got to see it, if not here it is....... Enjoy!

That's excellent work, John. I did indeed observe the occultation, the first part of it that is, and posted a report shortly after you posted your composite image.

Hi Dave,
Thanks, I figured you would get out to see it if it was clear for you, as you usually don't miss much, and you always seem to keep us up to date here on the forum, I certianly appreciate all your knowledge and experience, as well as you sharing it all with us. Hope you guys gots some good photos too! The daylight was a challenge and came on fast. I had to closeup up my backyard observatory quickly at 7:15 to take my kids to school and for me to get to my work on time. A busy, but successful morning of imaging and observing, despite the clouds. Thanks Again, ![]()
