Here are two images of last night's (Sunday 13 March 2005) New Moon.

This image is a mosaic of five separate images taken with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 digital camera attached afocally to a 32mm Plossl eyepiece on my 114mm reflector telescope. Settings were: ISO 200, 0.125sec, f/4.2, fl=full optical zoom. The images were layered, blended and processed using Adobe Photoshop CS.

The most noticeable feature is Mare Crisium but several main craters with their mountains, rills, and layered features are also evident.

Hope you enjoy them.

Eric

A slightly larger image so you can study the features.
