The Running Chicken nebula-
IC 2944 and 2948 another Southern object that is perhaps not as familiar to Northern Hemisphere observers I have been hunting this object for a while and did finally image it last Thursday,was curious to see what I could manage with an un modded Canon This is just one three minute image -and at ISO 800- Canon 300D, Celestron 8 inch newt on CG 5 Mount Still despite being a stock Canon- a reasonable amount of nebulosity is apparent. (There was a bit of a moon and my raw image was almost completely washed out thanks to my less than perfect backyard location) PS why is it called the running chicken nebula? stuffed if I know!
