I took this unguided Canon EOS Digital Rebel DSLR image of M13 earlier this year through a 5" f/5 achromatic refractor using eyepiece projection. The exposure was obviously not nearly long enough and the field curvature of the refractor is evident at the edge of the field.

Dave, this may be lacklustre by your usual high standards, but it certainly is a fine picture and better than any of my unpostable efforts.

Dave, its a good initial shot of M13.
My first one looked like potato salad.

Can you hook up that camera at prime focus?
I think if you might see more.

How long of an exposure can you get with your camera?

Keep at it Dave. I enjoy seeing your posts! B)

This my latest M13 from two 3 minute exposures.

I am trying to get better tracking. It seems with every shot I make, I can find lots wrong with them and work on for the next time.

Charles,

There is insufficient focuser travel to achieve focus with that telescope at prime focus. It's a club telescope, the finder scope in fact, for the ASH 17" classical Cassegrain.
