Thumbs up ISS, Big Dipper, Aircraft, & Meteor explodes

Hi All,

The image is of the Big Dipper & International Space Station & Airplane & a bright meteor explodes above the bowl of the Big Dipper.

The solid line is the ISS over a 30 second exposure……the dotted dashed line is the aircraft that overtook it, crossed over its path and left it behind…….the line shooting upward is the meteor that exploded above the bowl of the Big Dipper. The Meteor and aircraft were not what I intended to capture……..I Just wanted to capture The Big Dipper and the ISS…….but both aircraft and meteor came out of no where………….when I started the exposure…………….you never know what to expect when shooting the sky.

All this happened last Friday evening 09/02/05 in about 30 seconds. I captured it with my Digital SLR the Canon 10D. at F4.5, ISO 400.

Pretty cool... The only thing missing would probably be an iridium or a flash of lightning.

Sure they do- they used a photo of the BA with his eggs once...

That is an awesome photo- I've spent about 50 exposers trying to get a meteor- and you got the ISS a plane and a meteor all in one shot!

APOD material

Default Yes, Apod does post images other than NASA images.

I know first hand, as I have had my NEO asteroids posted there before. I have seen many amatuer photos there too!

Default cool shot!

I love shots with a human element to them!

The city lights reflecting off the apparently calm water is cool too!

Smile Solar Eclipse Photographs from Dhule(INDIA)

Spectacular Solar Eclipse

The annular solar eclipse took place from 4.13p.m. (IST) to 6.04 p.m. (IST) throughout the Maharashtra as well as most part of India & the rest of South & West Asia. However, the celestial event was visible for few minutes at certain areas of Maharashtra because of a cloud cover.

Special arrangements were made at Dhule to view the event. Amateur Astronomy Club installed one telescope on the JaiHind Senior College terrace. The installed telescope is five inch. It was visible from 4.16 p.m. (IST) to 5.57 p.m. (IST).Most of the Amateurs as well as sky watchers enjoyed this spectacular event. We took total 22 photographs that are unbelievable. Out of which, few are attached here…

Happy Sky Watching...
