Default Lightning

Here's a picture I took almost 2 weeks ago on August 31 of a thunderstorm passing northwest of Kitt Peak. The stars and dome make it an astrophoto.... :-) This image was taken with my Canon 20D with a 24mm lens, exposure was 10 seconds at f/4, ISO 400. The dome is that of the Spacewatch 0.9-m telescope.

Jim.

That is an awesome picture. The lighting really brings it to life.

Lol, I was wondering how strict the "astro" in this section is since someone had posted noctilucent clouds, but the sun is involved in the lighting there, and it is a star, they are studied from space, so.... This issue came up on the BABB, because people were posting their sky/weather related pictures in weather-related threads, and their space pictures in the Astronomy section, and so some may have been missed being scattered about. It's nice to be able to go to one section to see people's own pictures of sky/space objects or events....sky being the operative word. 'Just wondering where the line is since some people here take great photos of clouds, lightning, et al and I see atmospheric events sort of rolled up together.

Anyway, beautiful photo, and I saw your link somewhere to your other photos of the turkey vultures, desert, etc. Great stuff!
