Default Afocal lunar fun 10/12

Grabbed a few shots lastnight, and while not my best efforts I had a few turn out better than anticipated while fighting the dew. Might post a couple more as I continue to review them.

Hi Wolverine. Both of your photos look great. Your Copernicus photo Shows the Hortensius volcanic domes. The little crater just to the left of Copernicus is Hortensius and the 5 or 6 domes that are just above and to the right are volcanoes dating 3 to 4 billion years old. There are many such sites on the Moon that can be seen by backyard astro folks. Your Copernicus photo is the best example of a dome photo that I have seen yet. nice work. would you do me a favor and crop Hortensius and enlarge this area to show the domes better. later Paul

Thanks, guys. Here are a couple more -- this shot centered on Clavius came out better than I'd originally realized.

I like that one especially, too, but Wolverine has never posted a moon photo I didn't like. Nice shots.

Thanks, Paul, for your commentary on the Copernicus photo.

Much, much better. If you look very closely you can see Jay Windley waving back atcha.

Here's another from the same evening, centered upon Eratosthenes and the Montes Apenninus. Stack of 3 images taken at F/4, 1/25", ISO 200.

The original image didn't magnify well via software. The domes show up a little more clearly in these two shots taken at higher magnification -- the first is a single image, the second a stack of three (1/15" ea.). Wish the depth of field were better but you can still see some detail there.
