Default Moon, 1/11

This pretty much reaches the limit of what I can accomplish afocally. Wish I could get a smoother focus across the entire field.

Yeah, looks great to me. Took me a minute to get oriented, but it's a neat image - some major craters very well delineated.

Default Luna redux.

Silly me, I'm never satisfied.

I managed to reduce the vignetting a tad and also got out earlier tonight, catching the Moon around zenith transit. Might have overprocessed the first shot so I added a second, toned down a skosh.

Whoops, almost forgot the bonus material.

Right after snapping the above, a gorgeous lunar halo appeared. It was all I could do to frame it, even pulling back to 17mm:

More great ones.

On the leftmost of the two pics you posted tonight there is a big notch about 10 o'clock? is that part of a crater wall or a product of the procesing? It seems like it should be a real surface feature but that's a pretty big chunk.

Also on the Moon halo: We've got a local weatherma here who knows a lot of the Native American weather lore. If he's right, you'll get a big storm within 3 days.

A trick of lighting between Babbage and Herschel B more than anything else -- the added contrast in the first image just magnifies the effect. You can see the similar "notch" here.

A storm would be most welcome. We need the rain badly.

I wish you wouldn't keep using those technical terms - we laymen can't understand you.
