Default Jupiter's Rotation Animation

Hi all.

Here's a 16-frame animation of Jupiter from Sunday mornings data.

Unfortunately about half of the frames aren't as good quality as the other half (due to fluctuating seeing), but it still looks pretty cool.

You can even see how the middle latitudes rotate quicker than the high north or high south latitudes, giving Jupiter it's oblate shape.. you can see it by concentrating on some of the small storms in different belts and zones and watching how fast they rotate in relation to each other.

The animation was created in Jasc Animation Shop 3.

It's a 577k animated GIF and you can download it here:

Thanks for looking, and comments welcome!

Shoot, why did that happen over a GIF? I'll look it at home. I'm sure it's so fantastic that our blocker can't handle the overwhelming beauty of it all.

thanks for the animation of Jupiter, what about the other planets, are there any different annimations over it ? and what about stars and nebula ? is there any special one ( animation). many people like to see the animation along with music. ( i don't know which music will be suitable when showing the planets in the "animation"

Thanks for the nice comments!

Sunil, one could do an animation of Mars, but it would take a lot longer as the rotational speed is much slower (slightly longer than Earth), whereas Jupiter rotates in 10 hours.

Mars animations are usually done over subsequent nights, assuming the conditions are ideal and the same each night.

Saturn doesn't have any discernible surface/cloud features so an animation wouldn't show anything different than a single image.

Thanks
