Thumbs up Jupiter Animation - detail on ganymede (12th June)

Hi all
Here's an animation created from 10 images captured on the 12th June.

Only 2 out of the 10 frames were really good quality, but the rest were fairly good so I made the animation anyway.

It's a nice view showing Io shooting in behind Jupiter, Ganymede coming out from behind Jupiter, and the GRS + Red Jr transiting across the CM.

You can download the 400k animated gif by clicking on the link:

Jupiter animation 12th June (400k gif)

Attached is one of the better single frames from the animation.

All images captured at 5fps for approx 120 seconds. 160 frames of each channel were stacked for Jupiter, and 100 frames of each channel were stacked for each of the moons.

Other details in the image below.

Comments welcome.

Wow, that's very cool. You should compare what you see on Ganymede to Voayger images, or use software to figure out which face of the moon you're seeing.

Fantastic reults, iceman! And with a 10" Dob! Did you make the optics yourself?

Man, I'm moving to Gosford, Australia!

Thanks for the nice comments!

The 10" dob is a run of the mill GSO brand, sitting on top of an EQ platform from www.roundtableplatforms.com

Seeing is king! Collimation and cooling are almost as important.

GSO make pretty good optics for the price.. my scope only cost AU$800.

WOW even the red spot junior is visable, wonderfull animation
i`m also moving to Gosford, Australia the netherlands really suck if you want to do observations like this and besides that my scope is to small or actually:
1. scope to small
2. to cloudy
3. to much light pollution
4. to much air polution for a clear sky (hapens very rarely mostly in winter times)

time to move... can i join you Maksutov
