Default Summer Milkyway over the Ocean

Hi All, I'm just back from a short break, and I feel I have to post this one. On Wednesday night, August 2nd, I took a trip out to my favourite beach spot in County Waterford, Ireland, and set up to take a few shots, we had the most transparent skies I have ever witnessed from a dark site during summertime in a long time, this is what the summer milkyway looked like over the Ocean as the red coloured first quarter moon set in the southwest shortly after this was taken. It was quite a sight!

Canon EF 18-55mm lens at 18mm, Canon 300D, 500 seconds exposure at F4, Apologies to you guys down south where of course this is the winter milkyway ! Enjoy,
Keith..

Beautiful is too mild. I'm jealous; ocean, dark site, bright stars...

That's a very nice shot.

I own the same camera, BTW.

When I was in the Navy we would have newbies flown out to us when we were at sea and they wouldn't believe it when I would point out the Milky Way for them. The stars were so thick it would look like a band of bright overcast. Only after several nights would they believe me. Some would ask me how come it wasn't "Galaxy' shaped.
