Default My first shot of Mercury

Mercury is a beautiful sight in the West at the moment. It is clearly visible after sunset about a hand's breadth of the outstretched arm to the South-West of Jupiter.
I used my 114mm aperture Towa catadiotropic scope with a 18mm Celestron eyepiece last night to take a picture by simply holding my digital camera to the eyepiece. The magnification was only 55x but I got a reasonable image of the planet. My First! One can see that not all of the disc of the planet is illuminated by the Sun.

good job!

you guys are lucky for this apparation. Last night I went out to the local Television tower at an elevation of several hundred meters above the city to try and get some. Well it was hazy and cloudy on the horizon.

I did manage a few nice sunset shots however.

Good grab. Photographing planets can be frustrating, I understand.
