And if you flip the image, you get the hurricane symbol.

Melusine, is this just a coincidence or was the hurricane symbol designed from the appearance of this DSO? just curious. I must say, they look pretty similar.

No, the hurricane symbol was designed because it looks like a hurricane. See: http://hurricanes.noaa.gov/

But isn't it very nice that patterns look so similar throughout the Universe.

Thanks to all for your comments. yes it should be call the hurricane Galaxy in matter of fact the symbol and word of the hurricane originates from the carribbean indians the Tainos indians whos symbol and word means god of wind. Thanks again and Clear Skies. didn't answer sooner was on a trip.
