It's been a long time since I had a good chance to open the roof on my observatory. Last time was Halloween night!
But if you have been watching the news lately, you'll know that Seattle has been clobbered with record rains, then snow and ice, and finally last week the worst windstorm in 10 years! I had power, but most didn't so the skies were clear (and a bit darker than usual since 80% were without power) but very smokey from fireplace fires for heat all over the cities. Here is the Rosette from a couple nights ago. It's my first try at this object and it's only a stack of 6 images, so it's a bit noisy. I'll work on this some more when I get a chance to collect some more photons! Tom Highlands Astro-Shack observatory ![]() |
