Default Eagle Nebula Face...

I searched the forums and Google for "Eagle Nebula Face" after noticing something staring back at me on my computer monitor. The websites that turned up as results from Google were pointing out a different face looking shape in the nebula (and also claiming that it was the face of a returning prophet) that wasn't what I was seeing.

Creative thinking gave us the names and shapes of the constellations and creative thinking here has given me a spooky looking face in the cloud. I don't find this particularly fascinating, I was just wondering if it was noticed by anyone else.

Err... can't actually see it myself. What angle is the face supposed to be at?

It takes a bit of imagination now that I look at it again. The easiest way for me to see it is to start in the middle of the yellow circle. There are two elongated dark areas in the dust on a -45* angle that resemble nasal cavities in a skull. For me, everything lines up after that, the gaping mouth below with two elongated eyes above and little to no forehead. I may just be crazy though.

Hmmm. Yeah, I can see what you're talking about. What's the pointy flat bit to the left? Looks like the side of the head is being sliced off.

Not as effective as the face on Mars, I'd say.

Anyway, you're not crazy It's perfectly normal human nature to spot patterns in random data. Just look as some of the threads in the ATM section here for plenty of examples
