Default Total Lunar Eclipse March3,2007

Hi all,
I took these pictures from Tehran, Iran.
I used my new William Optics FLT-132 f/7 APO telescope on the Losmandy G11 w/Gemini goto mount.
I used TMB field flattener behind the telescope for these pictures.Camera i used was Canon EOS 30D at iso 400.Pictures 9 and 10 is two frame (with different exposure).
Pictures processed in Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Thanks for Looking

Looks a little diffrent from what I saw here in Scotland last night. Interesting to see how the apperance of shadows looks from various parts of the world. Very nice pictures. I was on a ship last night, clear calm night, well away from any light pollution but no telescope or camera. We were delayed in getting in so my plans for eclipse recording were ruined. Ah well try again in another couple of years.

Thanks for sharing

Shahriar, you also manage to image the occultation of a star. I could not figure out which one it was.

Shahriar,

I managed to identify the star which occultation you imaged. I used Stellarium and dialed in your location and time. The program showed the total eclipse of the moon as well as a star in the constellation of Leo which is in the exact postion of the one you imaged. It was Leo 59 with a magnitude of 5. Here is a screen shot of Stellarium
Great work my friend!!

Are you sure Phil? Your Stellarium screenshot has the moon shown at 4 times actual size. Try again with the moon shown at actual size.

I tried again. My program always shows the moon at 4.0x the size independent of how much you zoom in or out. By changing the time of viewing I could reproduce the occultation and reappearance of the star in question so I am pretty sure that is the one.

Shahriar, you are awesome! You've always been an excellent Moon photographer, but that's just great presentation, too.

I'll look at your site, because I'd like to see one of the red Moons alone as well. When it gets red like that the 3D effect is palpable.

Have you got 0.8.1? If you click on Setup, Rendering and then uncheck the Moon Scale box it should show it actual size. I have to say though, looking at the brightness of the star and the direction the moon is moving I think you have got the right star.

Hi Shahriar.

Those photos are beautiful.
I really appreciate people like you, because without these photos, I wont be able to see what tookplace in the eclipse.

Seems its not a big deal here in my country, I havent heard it in our local news.

And I didnt saw it , because it raining here .

Anyway, Thanks guys!

Keep it coming.

Dubb, that's way cool.

Shahriar, I looked at your site, but I didn't see any red Moons alone...nice sunspots, though.

Also, not to embarrass you, but this is a lovely thought that I'm sure sounds even more poetic in your native language:

"The mirror of the night sky started to will me to be a totally lover of the objects and make me certain to capture them in my arms, so a mechanical cameras coming to help and capturing have been started and it was still 2003."
