Default the wale H16 monochrom vs M25Color CCD

hi people,

2 extraordinary good nights opened the oportunity to once more compare monochrom CCD and M25Color.

I think You all will be surprised ... abit.

seeing was 8/10 and transp also.
it was great fun to handle the equipment under such almost perfect conditions.
I had a great time ...(-:

first of all let me introduce my final result:

ngc4631
9" TMB Apo f/7 (0,8TeleVue reducer)
SXV M25Color
3 hours (10, 15 minutes subframes)
AstroArt4 (image acqu. autoguiding and preprocessing)
PS CS2, PixInsight LE postprocessing.
seeing and trans 8/10

a small preview:

1500x:
http://stargazer.christelhager.info/...C4631.1500.jpg

2000x:
http://stargazer.christelhager.info/...631.medium.jpg

You`ll find full resolution here:
http://stargazer.christelhager.info/sonic/index.html

now take a look onto this image.
it`s a comparsion between luminance taken with
H16 mono 9"TMB Apo f/9
3 hours

CCD sharp - 2 iterations deconvol. and highpass filter (masking)

and
pseudoluminance taken with M25C (see above)
extracted with channel maixer (1ß%r,80%g,10%b)

the image:
http://stargazer.christelhager.info/...16-vs-m25c.jpg

...so - what can we learn?
I believe (even the comparion is a bit imperfect,...different focal length,...but I thought it is fair for bayer matrix reason to reducer FL while imaging with M25C)
the difference in resolutionpower of monochrom CCD and color CCD is not so big, as many people claimed...?

best wishes!
Dietmar

Very nice. I see faint features in the medium sized colour image that are not nearly as visible on the mono image, so I suspect they are not noise.

I see your point..I could be convinced that the monochrome didn't reveal significantly greater detail.very interesting and unexpected

Hi Diets it's been awhile my service provider struck again and decided to change to wireless provider. Anyway both shots are very impressive but you prove a good point on both cameras and the outcome on both were awesome!
Thanks for the great info. Clear Skies
