Default Plato mosic

Hi all here is a recent mosaic photo of Plato. I used my etx 125, a sac 7 ccd and a maxpower tele to take two avi's of Plato. This is a final photo of two 30 sec avi's at 1/100 of a sec 30 fps. Processed in registax and cleaned up in photoshop and noiseware.

Default Plato

Hi Paul - You're doing really good with your mosaics! They have a very smooth gradient blending! I need to do some close-ups of craters and try my hand at mosaicing them (is that word?). I've done a few "full Moon" shots this way, but nothing this close. I'm not sure I can get close to the resolution of your shots - I don't think I have the focal length to reach this close.

Congrats! Keep at it!

Clear skies!

Paul

Thanks Paul & Phil. I am happy with my photos lately, but with the heat of Summer apon us I am finding that the sac 7 does not stay cool enough and I am starting to get alot of noise.

My friend Dan said that there are different ways to set up astrovideo so I am going to try that. In the mean time I have been putting it in the freezer to cool it, use it for 20 min then put it back in the freezer, this seems to work.

Thanks again guys.

Default Plato mosaic

Hi Paul - it seems to me that Plato shows up much darker than other large craters, even in images where the Moon is full. I guess it must be part of the chemical composition from the impact. It sure is impressive! No wonder it's one of Phil's favorites! Mine too.

Clear skies!

Paul

Hi Paul. I like the alpine region and the north lunar pole, but sometimes I find it hard to focus in on that part of the Moon. Maybe its just me. I hope to get out tonight. I am planing to step up to a 140 apo 2x tele instead of the maxpower, if I can get a good focus using the 2x tele I may try both lens and see what I come up with. Thanks again Paul take care and clear skies Paul

Default Old Sac7 Enclosure

Hi Paul the day i was going to respond to this post i got zapped by a lighting. What i was going to say was to be care putting the sac7 in the frig dew could form on the ccd glass (Fog up) and ruin your pics or gets shorted, I had a sac7 what i did was replace the plastic casing with an aluminum one and worked like a charm. See Old photo of my Sac7
