Default Earth's shadow rising

Yesterday at dusk we were greeted by this glorious view of the Belt of Venus. This is quite a common occurrence where we live although not always as nice as this one.
Looking east beyond the retirement village lies Walker Bay on the South Indian Ocean just a few kilometers from where we live. Because of this low horizon, conditions are ideal to view the rising earth shadow beneath a rosy reflection atmosphere.

Thank you Efrain.
An excellent panoramic version can be seen on APOD

This was taken by a very good friend of mine, Willie Koorts. The wedge shaped shadow of the earth can be seen very clearly as well as the rosy reflection atmosphere just above it.
Clear skies my friend.

Phil

Hi Phil - that is really cool. I don't think I have a low enough horizon, or a clear shot at one to capture one of these from my location.

Thanks for posting!

Clear skies!

Paul

Wow!

Never have encountered a scene like that in my entire life.
Or maybe I'm just not looking.

It's really a nice shot!

Thanks for sharing.
