Default Venus-Saturn Conjunction, 2007/6/30

I took these shots of last night's conjunction of Venus and Saturn from the grounds of the ASH Naylor Observatory using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DSLR camera. The first one was through an 80mm Apogee short-tube achromatic refractor at prime focus, the second was through a 127m Orion MCT at prime focus, and the third was through a Canon 80-200mm zoom lens.

Very nice Dave!

I like that you can see a hint of rings in the second, and can see Regulus in the third. I looked at it, but didn't try to image it.

Nice work, Dave.
We had our conjunction last night (July 1st) and I had my 114mm f/8.7 Towa catadioptric telescope all lined up for the big event. I used a 18mm and 25 mm eyepiece. With both I could get both planets in the FOV. Amazing and a first for me. Venus was a gorgeous crescent and Saturn still majestic though much dimmer. I tried to image both afocally but only Venus made any impression on my camera.
I then used my Sony Cybershot T10 on a tripod, self timer and a high sensitivity setting to get the image below of the two planets.

Hi Dave.

I like your third photo the best, very nice. I like the blending of sky and trees. Nice job thanks.

Here's an 80-200mm zoom lens shot of Venus and Saturn on Sunday night from the town of Camp Hill.

I took this photo on Monday night from a hill near my residence. Harrisburg lies to the west as do the two planets.
