Default Vesta and Jupiter's Galileans

Struggled to get Vesta at what appears to be about 0.5 degrees. But the timing was good as both Io and Europa were visible for a short time around 1100 UT. Vesta had a blue appearance. I'm not sure if this is natural or the result of chromatic abberation. It also has a definately rectangular appearance at high digital magnification. Is this aberation as well? Finally, Vesta was supossed to be at a mag.7.2 but appeared slightly dimmer than the moons. What are the magnitudes of the moons... say relative to Jupiter's magnitude?

3" Reflector 20mm 60 degree eyepiece. Single image ISO 400 f/4 1/8s. Levels adjusted in Photoshop.

Very nice. The picture is huge though and I can't size it down.

ETA: Never mind. I opened the pic in an IE window and it looks great!

Great image. I was unsuccessful to take a picture but got to see Vesta though.

Iam not very handy with image size management and compression. I think it is huge because of the area of high res used to capture all the objects. any advice truely welcome.

Kind regards
Matt

In my case, since I'm not an astrophographer, you have that backwards. It is my pleasure to see the photos produced by the members here.

Must be chromatic abberation because it didn't appear blue to me tonight. Also, the rectangular shape you are seeing is the actual shape of the CCD pixels of your camera when you blow it up.
Here's what it looks like through Hubble http://www.solarviews.com/raw/ast/vesta3.jpg
