Hey Huckabuck.

For as low as Jupiter is this year and the next few to come in the northren part of the world your photo looks pretty good. Clear skies to you Paul.

Huckabuck, I go through these threads often, staring wistfully at beautiful images, wishing I could make the same...
But I have never posted in these threads.

Welcome to BAUT.

There is an old saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Or in this case, the aperture.

That is the essence of capturing an image for all to see.
Thank you for bringing that beauty to us.

Huckabuck don't be embarassed with your work.

Not all has the opportunity to capture such beautiful image like yours.

Welcome to Baut.

I love this Section here in Baut, seeing real beautiful photos from different people who happens to have the same passion as mine.
The only difference in me is .. I don't have the equipment like yours as of the moment.

Anyway, Thank you for sharing.

Kind regards

hey ozz, jupiter was about 20 degrees above the western horizon. the capture was with k3ccdtools. frame rate 10fps, gain about 20%. everything else was at the default setting except gamma, that was around 25%.

no tracking through a 10" orion dob. 75 seconds.

processing through registax.
wavelets 1 & 2 set to default,
3 set to 36,
4 set to 22,
5 set at 9,
6 set to default

adjusted historagram and rgb. and also put back alot of the gamma

here's another with io and shadow

A fine effort Huckabuck, be proud of everything you do.
You should have seen my first Jupiter, a big oval blob! But mate I looked at it and I was happy...Jupiter is a long way away to be imaged!

Huckabuck,
I have dug out the image here it is.
This was taken in 2005 I can tell you the road has been long but I have improved since then.

The second image was taken recently.

Both were taken using the LPI.

Paul

so you have about 750 frames in your capture do you use virtualdub for extracting the pics?

am sure you can get more detail out of this pic if the seeing was good..

try this
drag and drop all files in registax and set it to gradient 85%
then pic the best pic in the list from show frame list
aligmentboxsize set at 128
then align
then limit to 85% or more if you can depending how many frames you have
then optimize and stack

now for wavelet go to the rgb align tab click show erea and define erea and click estimate it will search and align rgb
then go back to wavelet options look for wavelet filter on right set your centre box at 500 or so, you can try a few setings then click set and close
now start from layer 6 and work your way up.

see if you get a better pic, also next time don t be scared to bring up gain, the noise will cancel itself from stacking...
