Default Comet 17/P Holmes

Took these last night with 30D 17-85mm lens. Comet naked eye and very low.
Could not find the comet at first because it is lower then i thought. Got the My-sky out and found it within 5sec.In Binoculars comet looks like a big fuzzy star. Very cool.
Phil

Great shots Phil!
Hoping to have a crack at it myself only it does rise and doesn't climb too high till around 12 midnight onwards from -34 deg.

Still it maybe a challenge.

That's going to be a tough one Paul with it only about six degrees above your horizon. But I don't feel too sorry for you guys in the southern hemisphere - I think you've got the some of the best objects to view.

I think we'd trade 10 17/Ps for one McNaught in the Northern Hemisphere.

That said, 17/P is a beauty in its own way.

Took the attached image of the 17P/Holmes over 3 nights...October 24th, 25th, and 28th...with a Takahashi Mewlon 300. It is certainly growing by leaps and bounds. For updates be sure to check out the updates at SpaceSpot.com.

I understand this Comet could get as big and bright as our Moon. That is scary.
