Default My attempt at 17P/Holmes

Please excuse the relatively poor quality - this was a quick set up, rough focus and shoot - all in the space of about 10 minutes. I didnt have time to cool the scope down and didnt even have the Alt-Az drives running.

Taken on 29th Oct 2007. This is a median stack of 13 x 2sec iso1600 unguided using a Canon EOS300D attached to a 10" Meade LX90 fitted with an F6.3 focal reducer and a 26mm eyepiece. Stacked in DeepSkyStacker 2.6.1, touched up in Photoshop elements and RL deconvolution using Iris 5.41.

I have re-registered and stacked the raw frames in registax 4 instead - I think the result is a lot smoother.

Very nice indeed, you did great on it even on a quick setup. Looking forward to see more. Clear Skies

Just tried to capture some better shots - took some up to 30 seconds in duration - however I have a problem.

The stars are showing severe comatic aberration - stretched from the centre of the image outwards. Can anyone shed any light as to why this is hapenning - I dont see the same effect visually.

My setup is as follows

10" LX90 --> F6.3 Focal Reducer --> Diagonal --> Camera mount/T-adapter + 26mm plossl eyepiece --> Canon EOS 300D
