Default Go easy on me, please.

These are some of my first astrophotos ever. I took them the other night when somehow the weather took pity on me. It was also only like, my fourth time using my telescope. The weather has been horrible. It also was the second time using my new Digital Rebel XT to take pictures through my telescope, the other time was the night before when I snapped a few photos of the moon.

I also got the Andromeda Galaxy and M34, but I havn't gotten around to processing them yet. I can't figure out how to stack images.

The pics look good! How did you get the Digital Rebel to interface with the 'scope? I dragged out my scope for Comet Holmes as well (and my digital rebel) for the first time in years. I have an 'universal camera mount' which worked out OK. Unfortunately, I don't have a motorized equatorial mount so I'm kinda hosed insofar as how long a photograph I can take. Regardless, your pics came out better than mine!!

Very good for first deep sky shots. Starting with a short focal length scope as you have is a very wise choice. A bit more work on polar alignment and you'll be cooking!

Nice pictures. To the upper left on the zoomed picture of comet Holmes there is a faint blueish shape that looks vaguely like a dragonfly. What is this? Is it a camera artifact, or a nebula or perhaps, more sinisterly, the advance scout of a gigantic insectiod invasion fleet?
