Default Comet Holmes by Dan Mckeel

Hi all.
Here is a final photo of comet Holmes taken by my friend Dan on 11 30 07. This photo of 60 images at 20sec shots was taken with his canon 20d and a 12 inch meade goto.

Nice wide field shot but I doubt it was taken through the 12" scope. Llikely the camera was mounted piggy back on it using something like a 80 to 120mm focal length lens depending on the sensor size in a 20D, something I don't know. On the 30th Holmes was over 11 degrees from Mirfak at the bottom of the photo. Even a 12" astrograph doesn't have that field of view. Note NGC 1245, an open cluster, half way from Holmes to the right edge. It shows as a little fuzzy patch. It might be partly resolved at full resolution.

Heavy snow tonight here. I've not seen it since the 18th of November. Keep the photos coming!

Rick

Hi Rick.
You are correct my mistake. This photo was taken with his canon 20d with a 200mm lens, mounted on a alt/az goto. Hope you have clear skies soon Paul
