Beautiful! I don't see a lady so much as a piece of kelp, but it's still a wonderful image!

Hi Matt.
I like your photos. Have you done any imaging in gray. I bought a DSI a few years back I used it a few times and put it back in its box. I did not like it. I hope to use it as a guider scope when I get my new vixen 8 inch. Anyway nice work. I am going to play with a few of your photos in photo shop cs2, photo filter and Helicon filter using just a gray scale. Clear skies to you Paul |

Thanks for the kind words. The DSI II was a budget driven compromise. A DSLR would have provided better resolution and image size but at the cost of processing flexibility and gain. Oh dear, I may be in trouble now. I am hoping that as I learn to use the drizzle function I can increase the resolution and image size. I am really rather suprised at the quality it can produce as long as you don't try the increase the image size too much. My major limiting factor at the moment is the shocking focuser on my LXD75 SN. If anyone knows of a good replacement designed for this scope I would love to know about it. Anyway... gettiing off topic here. Please feel free to play with the image, I can post the original filtered stacks if you wish.
Kind regards Matt |

About the focuser, I have an LXD75 SN. The focuser was working horribly for me until I realised that the locking screw was tightened the whole time. After I loosened that and then also slightly loosened the screws on the bottom of the focusing knob holder, it worked almost as smooth as a crayford.
Anyway, nice image. |

I love that photo. Realy spectacular. The first time I looked at it a few days ago I couldn't see any lady, but for some reason I looked at it tonight and it poped right out at me. But the thing is it looks more like a ghost than a women.
Anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I highlighted the area where the ghost is, really quickly just to give everyone an idea of where it is. Attached is the pic. Great photo! |

Thanks for the highlight Arcane. I never really saw the "lady" either. Eta Carina is one of the most fascinating stars in the sky. Some lucky photographer may actually capture the first moments of its final annihilation. I bet that makes APOD!

Beautiful!
If I'm not mistaken , its the top view of the lady where the round shape is her head and the scattered cloudy parts ( is that gases) is her gown. ![]()
