Default Mars in Excellent Seeing on December 26

Hi all,

Last night was one of the best nights of 2007 for astronomy here in Arkansas. Seeing was very steady. I was able to get these images of Mars with my Takahashi CN-212 telescope in cassegrain mode.

Here is the one with the barlow + extender, at about f/37
http://gallery.caasastro.org/v/membe...+extender.html

And the one with just the barlow, at f/24.8

Near the planet's limb in the southern hemisphere there are some clouds visible.

Superb images. Great that your once in a year night coincided with Mars being so close. Well done!

Kind regards
Matt

When I process Mars I try to get looking close to how it appears visually, but in your version, some of the clouds and dark features show up better, and the shape of the polar cap is more visible. Good job. If you want any of my unprocessed pictures PM me.
