Hi everyone and Happy new year. Below is a link to an image I just finished of the Gamma Cassiopeia nebula, IC 59/63. The main star in the image is Gamma Cassiopeia, the middle star of the well known "W" asterism.
I was able to get about 90 minutes of Luminance, 40 or Ha and 60 minutes each of RGB. This is a very faint nebula, but the Ha data helped considerably. http://www.pbase.com/kvwood/image/91050848 I hope you have a great new years day! Best regards, Kent |

Kent,
Beautiful work. Some more Ha might help even more, but the result here is very nice. --Andy

Good catch. That ionization front of IC63 was studied a couple of years ago in a multiwavelength study by J.A. Karr et al, at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics and Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics. There conclusion was that active star formation in that area appeared to be spurious. Take care, Kent |

Nice deep shot. I tried it last year using only LRGB but found the light of Gamma really a problem. It prevented me from going very deep. I could have used a gradient removal tool and gotten a lot more out of it but I sort of liked the effect of Gamma. I'll have to try again with H-alpha if these clouds ever let up.
