Default Lunar: Clavius Mosaic

Hi all

Here's a 4-frame mosaic of Clavius, captured on the 30th December 2007.

Clavius Mosaic (300kb jpeg)

Each frame had multiple alignment points, with approx 200 frames stacked on each point.

I'm pretty happy with it as the seeing was only 6.5/10 or so. The new DMK21AU04 allowed me to capture at 60fps which helped to freeze the seeing during the 40 seconds or so of capture for each avi (approx 2400 frames in each avi).

Processed in Registax, AstraImage and Photoshop.

Full version here:
Clavius Mosaic (300kb jpeg)

800px wide smaller version attached below.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Mike.
Well Done. This is one of the best crater photos that I have ever seen. Great job. Clear skies to you. Paul

Looks to me like Australia has a secret lunar space program. Dang that's a great shot!

Great balance of contrast on this one, like your other Moon shots. Very, very nice.

Many thanks for your feedback, i'm really happy with this shot.

I used the DMK21AU04 at 60fps with the Astronomik R filter.

Unreal. The topographical detail on ALL sides of the rim are like some form of ultra high resolution 3D ultrasound or MRI. I cant stop looking at it.

Kind regards
Matt
