Hi all here is my first photo using the Vixen. Astronomy 101 tells us to first use the Moon as a photo subject, so here it is. Photo taken using my vixen vmc200l 8 inch and my sony cybershot mounted to a 40mm lens.
The skies here were very clear today and the temp made the mid 40+. I set up around 3 pm. Using a rough alignment I sent the scope to the Moon. By 4:15pm it had cleared the top of our house and I was able to see the Moon in the 8x50 finder scope not bad for just using a compass. Hope you enjoy.Clear skies to all. Paul |

Good first subject, I look forward to seeing more photos taken with the vmc200. It and it's bigger brother, were on my short list, a few years ago, when I was looking for a new planetary scope. They look like good options for planetary neb imaging too.
If you have taken any shots of star fields using an APS-C or larger sensor, do you see any star deformation at the frame corners? Robert |
